In2Go Industries, located in South Carolina, has unveiled their new electric three wheel car, code named the KB3.  While the vehicle drives and resembles a "car" it is actually classified as a three wheeled motorcycle. The KB3 seats 2 passengers side-by-side and features many automobile features like a steering wheel, gas and brake pedal, and even 4 point seat belts.  The difference is in the wild superhero-esc styling paired with a ground breaking low cost under $18,500.

The Affordable Electric Three Wheel Car

The KB3 was designed in America, by an American engineer, and it will be made in America, this means it is American sized.  While the KB3 weighs only around 1100 lbs, it offers spacious comfort for its two passengers with over 5 feet of shoulder space, unlike all other 3 wheel cars and reverse trikes on the market which pack its riders into an over-sized go kart frame.  The 115" wheelbase and 64" track width, similar to that of a Ford Crown Victoria, holds its place on the American roads.

New KB3 - Three Wheel Car

The KB3 was designed to be a modular platform that can be powered by an EPA complaint gas motor, but more importantly, a cutting edge, full electric drive.  In2Go offers 3 levels of electric drive to fill everyone's needs, from a standard version (not including styling!) that features an estimated 70 miles of range and all the power you need in a 1100 lb three wheel car (under $18,500), to a double the fun version, including double the HP and double the range, still at a price under $25K.

The KB3 uses a tubular steel space frame that combines structural optimization with flowing lines to make function and styling one.  The body panels are constructed from aluminum alloy to ensure weight remains low and still provides aerodynamics and styling.  Everything found on the three wheel car was 3D designed and stress analysed to maximize performance and minimize weight and cost.

The advantages of the full electric version of the KB3 are numerous.  The KB3 is powered by the latest lithium battery technology that allows for over 3000 charge cycles, that's over 8 years of everyday charges.  Only one fluid is found on the KB3, and that is the hydraulic brake fluid which only is recommended to be changed every 2 years.  The electric three wheel car uses suspension, brake and steering components designed for modern American cars.  This means they are durable, available everywhere, and low priced. This leaves the only thing you need to do to your trike is plug it in, and enjoy the ride.  No worries of ethanol, no oil changes, just hop in and hit the pedal.

The CEO of In2Go

Duncan Burns, the lead engineer and CEO of In2Go, believes that the simplest design is usually the best, but that doesn't mean simple can't be beautiful, as confirmed by the KB3 design.  Mr. Burns' background is specialized in vehicle dynamics, chassis design, steering design, and aerodynamics and holds several patents for innovative chassis and steering designs.  He designed for the mass production industry, and learned how to effectively design out cost without sacrificing quality or American jobs.  This background, coupled with his love of anything you can ride in/on, inspired his now real life dream of opening In2Go Industries and designing the KB3.

The KB3 is scheduled to start production in 2017 and BETA models are being sold to the few who would like one of the first available units.
